1. UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development
The UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development - "Moving into the Second Half of the UN Decade" was held in Bonn, Germany, from March 31 to April 2, 2009. Five years into the UN decade of Education for Sustainable Development, for which UNESCO is the lead agency, the conference aimed to highlight the relevance of ESD to all of education; promote international exchange on ESD, especially between countries of the North and the South; carry out a stock-taking of the implementation of the UN Decade, and develop strategies for the way ahead. 2. ESD - Environment and Sustainable Consumption *Horse logging demonstration* PEI
A Horse logging demonstration at the property of Thelma Phillips, 10244 Route 12, Foxley River - was held Sunday, November 29, 2009 from 1:00pm -3:00 pm. Sponsored by Wood West Networks Inc. with assistance from: Craig Construction & Cabinet Making Limited, PEI Model Forest Network Partnership, PEI Department of

3. ESD Canada
Established in 2006, ESD Canada (formally the National Education for Sustainable Development Expert Council) brings together a broad range of stakeholders from across the country to support systemic change toward ESD within the formal, non-formal and informal education systems. Made up of representatives from provincial and territorial Education for Sustainable Development Working Groups, Ministry of Education representatives for jurisdictions that do not yet have Working Groups, as well as national and international organizations, the council addresses crosscutting issues of ESD and promotes research, communication and the sharing of best practices.
