Sask ESD Network Update as of March 2010
October 22 2009 SESDN Action Framework Launch
Thanks to partner organization feedback, the Sask Education for Sustainable Development Network Inc. (SESDN) released the first version of a framework to help guide actions aimed at education for sustainable development (ESD) at the Royal Sask Museum in Regina on October 22, 2009. The event included live music, snapshots of exciting and inspiring projects (via the presenters from partnering organizations whose initiatives illustrated different goals and objectives within the framework), light lunch, networking opportunities and a screening of the inspiring final episode of the Green Life tv series. The Action Framework, as well as the streaming video of the event, is available on the SESDN website at: www.saskesd.ca
March 5, 2010 SESDN and Sask In Motion present Severn Cullis-Suzuki
Sask in Motion teamed up with a number of organizations including Sask ESD Network to bring Severn Cullis-Suzuki to Regina with her inspiring messages of taking action, standing up for what one knows is right and being a leader in one’s community. The free event was open to the public; however the primary audience was four hundred students from grades 7 – 10. The Saskatchewan School Boards Association and the Ministry of Education broadcast the event live in various communities and over the internet allowing participants from across the province to call in or e-mail their questions for Severn. The streaming video will be available on the Sask ESD Network website in the near future.
Green Life Educational Package Development
As the advisory board for Green Life SESDN looks forward to developing the six part series as a resource for the formal education system. SESDN is currently looking for funding for the resource development. Green Life features a number of SESDN members and is a wonderful example of a Saskatchewan based ESD awareness initiative that uses television as a means of delivering its compelling message of sustainable living.
